Employment Seminar Benefits Nineteen Job Seekers
Mt. Vernon - Nineteen unemployed Missourians learned new job skills, resume and interview techniques, and practiced those skills at a workshop hosted by the Mt. Vernon Rotary Club, with help from MO Career Center and students from the Mt. Vernon High School FBLA Chapter last Tuesday. Rotarian Scott George, who organized the event, discussed key tips, included putting the last job behind you and the importance of a good attitude when searching for a job. One participant commented “Now I know why I can’t get a job. I’m ready to start my new job search today.” Steve Ketchum, from the MO Career Center, discussed resume tips and interview dos and don’ts. Another participant noted, “I am now more confident in finding a job.” Bridgett Schmutz, MV FBLA Advisor, and her students worked with the participants to generate resumes that will be noticed.
MV Rotary President David Van Pelt stated, “This workshop is another example of Rotarians living the motto of ‘Service Above Self.”
