The Rotary Club of Henryetta hosted the Governor of Rotary District 6110 at Wednesday’s meeting at the Pig Out Palace.

Club president Jeremy Roberts opened the meeting, welcoming visitors including District Governor A. C. Moncrief, his wife, Doris, and Assistant District Governor Clay Langley. Moncrief is visiting each of the 79 clubs in the four states that comprise his district, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas. He lives in Van Buren, Arkansas.

HenryettaMoncrief spoke of the internationality of Rotary and the success of the Rotary Club’s India polio immunization project. “If there are no new cases in three years, the Rotary Club could be winning the Nobel Peace Prize,” he said.

“I encourage Rotarians to get out and visit other clubs and attend District Conventions and International Conventions if at all possible. When you do, wear something to indicate your club.

“There are no bosses in Rotary. We are nothing but a good bunch of people doing good in the community.

“I encourage you to make somebody a Paul Harris Fellow, and recruit senior citizens to join your club, especially doctors. In Australia they call them “super adults”, meaning they are at or near retirement. A lot of young adults want to be in Rotary. They want to be involved with projects.”

Moncrief ended his talk by saying, “The future of Rotary is in your hands. Our motto this year is ‘Every ROTARIAN Every Year!’”
