| Rotary
and Gates Foundation announce US$355 million for polio
eradication initiative |
 The Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation announced today that it is
awarding Rotary a $255 million challenge grant, which Rotary
and its supporters will match with $100 million over the
next three years. The announcement came during Rotary's
International Assembly to all incoming district governors
and Rotary senior leaders. Rotarians are strongly encouraged
to share this news with their local media this week. A press
release was created that Rotarians can customize by adding
content describing their club's or district's polio
eradication efforts, submitting photos of local
participation in National Immunization Days, or adding
comments from local Rotary leaders pledging continued
support for this vital effort.

Rotary's mini Web site, www.rotary.org/endpolio, allows
both Rotarians and the general public to become part of
history by donating to the global effort to eradicate polio.
The site also explains the Gates Foundation challenge grant,
describes funding needs, and provides an overview of the Global Polio Eradication
Initiative. Rotary encourages club members to
spread the word among friends and colleagues about this site
and to market it on club Web sites and blogs and in

| The PolioPlus Headliner Kit is another resource clubs
can use to help publicize Rotary's polio eradication
efforts. The kit contains samples of a news feature, a press
release, an opinion piece, and a letter to the editor, all
designed to be easily customized. This resource can be
downloaded here. For additional languages,

video clips that illustrate a story, is often used by
television stations to provide supplemental visuals for
newscasts. It can also be integrated into other videos
during the production stages. Rotary offers
