WHY? By: Paul Ross

Before you make any decisions, whether major or minor, this week ask yourself this question, “Why?”

Why do you get up in the morning and go to work?  Why did you eat breakfast?  Why did you brush your teeth?  Why did you hug your spouse before you left for work?  Why did you kiss your kids before they went to school?  Why did you hold the door for the stranger walking behind you at the office?  Why did you wave that person on at the 4-way stop, or why did you cut them off? LOL  Whatever your actions are, ask yourself, “Why???”

Now, maybe you’re asking yourself, “Okay, what’s Paul getting at?”  Well it’s really rather simple.  When you ask yourself “Why” you come up with a set of beliefs and your beliefs are what led to those actions.

Why did you get up and go to work?  Because you believe if you don’t, you’ll lose your job, and likely not be able to support your desired standard of living.  Why did you brush your teeth?  Because you believe if you don’t, your teeth will fall out!  Why did you eat breakfast, because you believed you needed a jumpstart, some energy for your day, perhaps?  Why did you kiss your kids and hug your spouse, because you believe that demonstrates your love for them.  Why did you open the door for the stranger at the office, probably because you believe service above self begins right here in America, in our own backyard.

Okay, enough of that.  Hopefully you see the point.

So, why do we have a goal of 700 pairs of shoes, why consume 5-6 weeks of our Rotary year with this Shoes for Orphan Souls Campaign?  What do you believe about these shoes?  Do you believe this is a waste of time?  Because if you do, you’ll likely not do anything about it.  However, if you genuinely believe that these shoes are going to go to children in need.  In need of a pair of shoes that will change their life.  You’d likely do something about it.  Perhaps you don’t believe shoes can change a life.  Well, to examine that, go ahead and go one day without wearing your shoes and tell me how that goes for you.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are so blessed to be in America and have the ability to change the life of a child by very simply giving them a new pair of shoes.  Join with me in changing a child’s life – Bring your shoes to Tuesday’s Meeting and donate CASH today to go toward new shoes.  Do it as a family, change your child’s life by opening their eyes to the need and change an orphans life by giving them a brand new shoe with love.

Thanks for reading,

Paul
